Fast Forward into the Future

The idea for this project came from our observation that there are many things today that benefit humanity that could have been available a lot sooner and to more people.

A few examples include:

The Communications Revolution
Moveable type for printing European languages enabled a rapid spread of literacy, communication and education throughout the world. The industrial revolution depended on it. Had moveable type been invented 1000 years earlier, the industrial revolution might have occurred in the first millennium, not 150 years before the second.

It's Economic Bread Mold, Stupid
Western medicine's use of penicillin for killing bacteria in humans has saved thousands of lives and improved quality of life, and penicillin has been growing naturally for eons..

Indentured Servants Can't Buy Model T Fords
Until the Industrial Revolution, slavery was widely assumed to be the most profitable means of production. However, replacing slavery with wage paid labor in many parts of the world did not just improve a social ill, it created much faster economic growth. Workers around the world were given the purchasing power to own their own cars, turning the workforce into a vital market of consumers.

Why did we have to wait so long for these things which caused rapid streams of progress to happen? Technology was not the problem. Delays, or Civilization Stalls existed because people were used to doing things the way they had always done them and were bound by certain ways of thinking. Penicillin was delayed because many people did not think that chemicals could help treat infection.

Dick Fosbury and the Flop That Didn't
Dick Fosbury's high jump method that challenged conventional thinking broke world records and changed the event completely. Companies can learn a lot about better management practices from this example.

Even today, we are not yet asking the best questions and using our imaginations as much as we could to look for better ways of doing things. We need to change the way we think about progress in our work and lives to transform stalls into amazing benefits and have 400 years of progress in only 20. We must learn how to make the best and most economically beneficial changes to improve company performance in an on-going way and teach what we learn to others. Fast forward into the benefits of the future right now to learn more and share your ideas.
